Schmincke's HORADAM® binding medium is Kordofan Gum Arabic from the Sahara region, due to it differing from year to year it is tested and the best of the batch is selected to used with their pigments. They use an optimal amount of oxgall to avoid undesired coloured formations and undissolved pigment, allowing the perfect flow of colour.

Binder for own production of water-colours and gouache colours. Dilutable with water; dries to a wiping resistant film, but remains water-soluble. Improves adhesion of undercoats when added to Schmincke water-colours and gouache colours; increases gloss, transparency and intensity of colours.

Final varnish for paintings in oil. Glossy; colourless; non- yellowing; age-resistant; fast drying.The product is ready to use, but can be diluted with e.g. turpentine substitute. May only be applied with a suitable varnish brush at room temperature to the layer of oil paint after it has dried completely, i.e. after 8 – 12 month at the earliest.
